EXTENDED LOST WORLD CUTSCENE!
Wow, this looks AWESOME!
I am an Australian trying to collect the Sonic comic series and it’s impossible! There are no local comic stores where I live and no other place stocks the series. I tried Emailing Archie, and they just ignored me. I tried downloading the archie app on my Android system phone and it’s just not what I want to do, and I didn’t know that you had to pay for them. I want to be able read them on their original print. This has been a long and tiring quest to obtain the new comics, but so far, no luck at all. I missed the entire crossover, and I’m not about to miss new saga! I’m tired of the Internet spoiling the issues. So please, is there anything I can do?
Seeing as how some have received issue #253, which spills the beans of the interestingly named Egg Army and two of it’s Egg Bosses, one of them being from the old continuity, Lord Hood and the newest addition to the series, Axel the Water Buffalo. Interestingly, Lord Hood has moved to Avalon, where the Black Night games are set. This is likely because Penders owns the concept of Mercia. And what’s more interesting is that Axel is the new Egg Boss of Efrika instead of Diesel. Does this mean that a lot of other Egg Bosses will new/different characters? Let’s take a look. Ian can officially use Baron Rabbot, Matilda the Armadillo, The Iron King and Queen, Bride of Conquering Storms, Ahklut and the Foreman Nerb, though I don’t think he’ll use the last two. This could be a good thing, because they could invent New Freedom Fighter teams and redesign those who need redesigning. For Example, since the Genesis Wave changed everything, this means that the Dragon Kingdom Freedom Fighters could still exist. It could be led by Monkey Khan, and have Li Moon as a member, but hey would probably have to be redesigned. They could be fighting against Conquering Storm and her forces. Hopefully, if they do bring her back, she wouldn’t have weird robot eyes and a slight redesign. Onto the Arctic Freedom Fighters, all they would need is a redesign and a new enemy. Lupe is the only member of the Wolf Pack that can be used, so she would need some new teammates along with a redesign. The Downunda Freedom Fighters can stay the same as long as some of them get a redesign. Now onto the Sand Blasters, I’m not too sure who owns them, but I’m only going to guess it’s Penders yet again, so don’t expect them any time soon. So that’s my ideas, what are yours?
Okay so I’ve been recently researching Fleetway’s Sonic the Comic and I thought I would share my opinion with you guys, so please don’t criticize me for having an opinion.
First Impressions were “Wow England had it’s own Sonic Comic? Cool!”
Impressions now are “What the hell were they thinking? How did they get away with this?”
Now to be honest, there are some things I like about it, such as the character Tekno the Cannery, the fact that it was set in Game Areas and that Super Sonic had his own identity.
What I don’t like about it, is that it doesn’t feel like a Sonic continuity. For example, Sonic was brown and turned blue thanks to Dr Ovi Kintobor who later turns out to be Dr Robotnik. Does that not sound like a corny fan fiction to you?
Another thing I don’t like is that Sonic seems way too different. What I mean by this is that he is very rude. That doesn’t seem like Sonic at all.
The other thing I absolutely hate about the series, is that A LOT of the characters don’t look like proper Sonic Characters.
Let’s take a look to see what I’m talking about
Johnny Lightfoot, based off the animal friend from the very first game. I like the idea of having of a character based on animal friends. What I don’t like, is that he is way taller than Sonic. I know what your thinking “Other game characters are taller than Sonic!”. Yes that is true, but the main height difference in the game would only be a few center meters, not 2 feet taller.
Porker Lewis, like Johnny, he was based of an animal friend from the first game. I have mainly the same issues with him as I did with Johnny, too tall. But the one thing I can’t stand, is that he and Johnny are way too over clothed and complicated. Sonic characters are natural simple in design, without many clothes.
That’s all thanks for reading my little rant
Peace Out, Do it to it man!
PS-What are your thoughts of Sonic the Comic?
To start off, I just wanted to stay, I think I’m the only one who wants the new continuity to stay.
Seeing as how their are limited ammount of characters usable without Archie getting in trouble. So I would say that they are going to re-use some old characters (I.e Nerbs, Wolf Pack) and focus more on the game and SatAM characters. I also believe that there will be some new characters, such as the Bull/Minotaur we see on #255’s cover and Captain Metal Sonic.
As for the disappearance of the Echidna’s and other Penders Characters, I’m sure there will be a feasible reason.
Such as for Jules and Bernie, Uncle Chuck could have been Sonic’s parental guardian since he was a small child.
Alica could have died during child birth and only had Sally, never having Elias.
As for the Echidna Race, I think they will only use the ones there allowed to use, Knuckles, Athair and Dr Fini
I would presume they would Introduce some new characters, like a new freedom fighter and another Acorn family member.
They could easily use the Nocturnes Clan, seeing as how their no such thing as the Dark Legion any more. They could make a proper tie in story, as they originally planed to do WAY back in 2009.
One last thing before I sign off, where is Knuckles in this new continuity? He hasen’t appeared on the covers and I’m starting to get worried. Let’s hope he’s on the cover of #256
Peace Out, Do it to it man!
Three words people: Quit your Bitching! I’m tired of people of complaining about how Sally has less hair, new clothes, gloves + Bangles, and slightly new hair. So what? Their clothes! get over it! Archie is trying to make the comics closer the games, starting with the redesign of the Satam cast, and I think it’s a good thing.
I have devised a list of characters from the games and the comic that Ken Penders can NOT claim. NOTE: Eggman Nega and the Nocturnes Clan aren’t on the list because there a isssues with using them.

Ian Flynn, though has his flaws, is a far better writer for Sonic the Hedgehog, than Ken Penders because he makes the stories closer to the game, he provides betters artists and doesn’t constantly use Echidnas. Because of the recent drop in characters, thanks to Penders, I feel Ian will start using a smaller cast, and a smaller continuity. Ken Penders on the other hand, uses WAY too many characters. He simply makes a set of character for 1 or 2 issues, and then just forgets about them (Eg. Arctic Freedom Fighters, Freedom Fighters of the Galaxy, ect). Just from when Ian started writing, you could see he was trying to make better use of his characters, and introduce more game characters. Such as Fiona Fox, a background character, he gave her an interesting mini story, and introduced Bean and Bark, in his first issue! Look how long it took for Cream the Rabbit to be introduced into the main continuity. It would have never happened if Penders was still writing. Look at Pender’s last few issues, there total wrecks! he introduced a horrible recolor fan character named Issac, and Shadow starts to work for Eggman out of the blue. Ever since Ian Flynn took over, you can simply notice that the artwork got extremely better! When Penders was in charge, most of the art was absolutely atrocious! When I started to read the comic, I was confused as hell! I had no idea what was going on. The main thing I was wondering was, why are there so many Echidnas? I thought Knuckles was the of his kind. This is one of my main issues with Ken Penders. Fair enough Knuckles is the last of his kind, but he just added WAY too my Echidnas. While I’ll miss the main ones, such as Julie-Su and Lien-Da, I am actually glad to see the rest go, and interested to see what Ian does about this, seeing as how he only can use a few Echidnas (Knuckles, Tikal, Dr Finitevus, Athair, Nocturnes Clan and the Knuckles Clan). If Penders only introduced a small colony, it would be easier to get into the story. That’s why I am excited about the new era of Archie Sonic. It will give new readers an easier time. Overall, Ian Flynn is doing a darn well good job, especially after finishing a court case, that wiped out more than half of the cast, while Penders is a horrible writer, who will probably fail with the Lara-Su Chronicles.
